Hello, my name is Dr. Niloufar Salehi, and I’m the Medical Director at Southern Indian Health Council. I’m a board-certified Osteopathic Physician with training in Family Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Something about me is that I take a holistic approach to care, treating the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. One thing I love about working at SIHC is being part of a team that shares my passion for healing and supporting the wellness of the Native American community.

Jamie Grebosky, MD

Hi, I’m Dr. Jamie Grebosky, and I am a Family Provider at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors! Hiking, mountain biking, trail running, and kayaking are some of my favorite activities. I also have a golden retriever who loves joining me on adventures. When I’m not outside, I enjoy reading about natural history and traveling to new places. A fun fact about me is that I used to be a competitive wrestler; I was a national Prep School champion and a starter for Lehigh University. I earned my biology degree from Lehigh University, my MD from Penn State College of Medicine, and a Master’s degree from Harvard University. I completed my residency in Family Practice at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine, where I also enjoyed spending time at the beach. One thing I love about working at SIHC is the closeness and collegiality of the team, as well as the opportunity to connect with and learn from Native culture. Joshua Blessing, MD

I earned my medical degree from Creighton University and completed my residency at University of Arizona in Tucson. Hadi Safavi, DO

My name is Hadi Safavi, and I am a Board-certified Family Practice Physician. After finishing my undergraduate studies at UCSD, I moved to Henderson, NV for medical school where I got my medical degree. Subsequently, I moved to Arizona for Family Medicine residency and continued to practice there for the fine people of Cochise County, home to our US military Intelligence, Fort Huachuca. I moved back to San Diego county in 2023 to be close to my family, including my elderly mother. I love spending time with my five-year-old baby and the rest of my family including my siblings and mother. I enjoy my job and I enjoy a glass of wine once in a while on the weekends. A fun fact about me is that I have lived in both Iran and Israel. I am an Osteopathic Physician who believes in a holistic approach to health to include body, mind, and spirit. I have loved working at SIHC and getting to know the ancient culture of the native American community and fine colleagues.

Janessa Peralta, MD

Hi, I’m Dr. Janessa Peralta, and I am a pediatrician at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work, I enjoy reading and visiting new places. I completed my Medical Degree at the University of the Philippines and completed my pediatrics residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine-Elmhurst Hospital Center in New York. One thing I love about working at SIHC is the adequate amount of resources and support it provides to its members. Steven Granada, MD

Geriatric Provider

My name is Dr. Steven Granada, and I am a trained Internal Medicine physician specializing in the care of adults, particularly elderly patients with complex medical conditions. Over the course of my career, I have worked extensively in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including ICU care and collaborative outpatient management with specialists, social services, and caregivers. I have had the privilege of serving Indigenous communities through various roles, including my work with Indian Health Services and community clinics. These experiences have deepened my commitment to providing compassionate, culturally informed care. Now based in San Diego, I am excited to join SIHC to continue serving patients in need, particularly those with complex health needs, while contributing to the organization's mission.

Peter Seymour, MD

Hi, I'm Dr. Pete Seymour, I'm a physician specializing in psychiatry at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog Bodhi and listening to music (I have a larger collection of opera recordings and also enjoy 60s bands). A fun fact about me is that I played college football with a Super Bowl MVP (no kidding!). I earned my MD degree from Boston University and completed psychiatric residency training at UCSD. I'm also board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. One thing I love about working at SIHC is the wonderful support staff who allow me to focus on working with my patients!

Karl Jacobs, MD
Psychologist

My name is Karl Jacobs, and I am a Board-certified Psychiatrist with additional certification in Addiction Medicine. I completed my undergraduate studies in chemistry with honors at UC Santa Cruz, then spent a year as a lab technician at UCLA before earning my medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. I was proud to attend Emory on a Navy Health Professions Scholarship and serve as an officer in the U.S. Navy. I completed my internship and psychiatric residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego, with specialized service at the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, where I served as both a battalion surgeon and later as Division Psychiatrist. After completing my military service, I transitioned to civilian practice and have worked in a wide range of psychiatric settings including VA care, private practice, and community mental health. I am passionate about delivering thoughtful, compassionate care and have pursued advanced training in psychotherapy and clinical research. I’m honored to be part of the team at SIHC and to serve a community rooted in strength, tradition, and healing.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing soccer, hiking, riding bikes, serving at church and going to the beach with my family. A fun fact about me is that my wife and I have four kids. I earned my dental degree from the University of California San Francisco and completed my specialty training in Prosthodontics from UCSF as well. One thing I love about working at SIHC is that I can be the type of provider that I've always wanted to be: focused on patient centered quality care. I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Loma Linda University in 2014 and have been practicing dentistry in San Diego since then. I have worked in the public health field for almost 10 years. One thing I love about working at SIHC is the organization's commitment to providing high quality care to it's community. Outside of work, my life revolves around being a father and setting a good example for my 3 young children. A fun fact about me is that I achieved the rank of second degree blackbelt and became a certified martial arts instructor when I was younger. I earned my dental degree (DMD) from Rutgers University and completed my general practice residency at the Montefiore Medical Center. Hi I'm Dr. Shanti Gopalan and I am a Pediatric Dentist at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, going on walks, visiting new places, watching movies, gardening and cooking fresh food for my family. A fun fact about me is I used be so scared of dogs growing up in India but now I have a German Shepherd as my pet and I can't imagine being without him. I earned my DDS from New York University College of Dentistry and I completed my Pediatric Residency training at NYU Langone Hospitals in Nashville, TN. I love working with kids and taking care of their pearly whites and to make them feel comfortable when they visit me. I earned my dental degree in India before moving to the United States, where I completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Clinical Research at the University of California, San Diego, and earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University at Buffalo, New York. I completed my General Practice Residency through Community Medical Centers in California, where I discovered my passion for pediatric dentistry. Hi I'm Lacey Armstrong and I am a Register Dental Hygienist at Southern Indian Health Council. When I am not at work you can find me spending quality time with my two young boys. We love to go on a ton of adventures, go to all the amusement parks, and spend a lot of time out doors. I enjoy the sunshine, anything by the water, and getting the absolute most out of life. A fun fact about me is I absolutely love the color yellow, it makes my soul happy! I have been in dental since I was 20 years old and I earned my Hygiene degree at Concorde Career College. Prior to being a RDH, I was a dental assistant who also helped out up front from time to time. I worked at an office that specialized in patients with dental anxiety and its kind of my niche. I enjoy easing peoples worries, especially when they come to get their teeth cleaned. One thing I love about working at SIHC, is the constant support and feeling of community. Hi, I'm Brooke Geest, and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring San Diego with my husband and kids. A fun fact about me is that I ran the Rock n Roll half marathon. I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Dental Hygiene degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX in 2012 and have been practicing dental hygiene for over 10 years now. I also hold certifications in nitrous oxide & local anesthesia administration, laser bacterial reduction and curettage, as well as CPR. One thing I love about working at SIHC is the wonderful coworkers and staff that making coming to work a true joy. I completed my clinical training through hands-on experience at Southwestern College and have been dedicated to providing high-quality dental care. Hello, I am David Bartlett and I have been a Registered Pharmacist for 50 years. I used to enjoy riding my Horse, Cowboy, chasing our cattle we had here in Campo. We had about 50 head. He and I have gotten to old for that. My main Hobby now is playing golf with my two son-in-laws and nephew. We own a house in Borrego Springs on a golf course. I first starting working at Grossmont Hospital. It's very interesting because we actually started their nascent Clinical Pharmacy Program. I next transferred to Sharp Memorial Hospital where I mostly worked on the Oncology Ward. I transferred to work at Sharp’s Long-term-Care facility. My wife and I decided to start our own Long-Term-Care Pharmacy and supplied Nursing Facilities, Board and Care Facilities, and Assisted Living. We sold that Pharmacy and I worked as a Consultant Pharmacist for about 1 year. I took a job as the Pharmacy Director for the California Department of Veterans Affairs for 5 years. I then found this Job at SIHC and was the Pharmacy Director for about 10 years. I have worked for SIHC now for 17 years. I received a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Arizona and the Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of the Pacific. One thing I love about working here is serving patients who I knew when they were kids and now are adults.

Hi, I’m Dr. Tiffanie Tam and I am the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, ballet, and hiking. A fun fact about me is that I love to eat good food and travel around the world. I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. I also am a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. One thing I love about working at SIHC is the opportunity to work closely with other healthcare providers and the latitude to evolve the Clinical Pharmacy program to become an integral member of the health care team and yet also function independently to optimize therapy and promote the health, wellness, and disease prevention for our patients.

Hi, I’m Kassandra Mason and I am the Director of Behavioral Health at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and watching women’s soccer. A fun fact about me is that I love to travel. Every time I go to a new place, I try to get a tattoo while I am there as a way to remember the trip. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and Licensed Professional Clinical Counseling from National University. I completed my initial practicum and internship at Alvarado Parkway Institute. I am also a Certified Expressive Art Therapist (CEAT), a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist, and I am a Certified EMDR Consultant. One thing I love about working at SIHC is working with the community as a whole. I love the sense of belonging and connection our community provides to one another. I also love exploring new coffee and tea shops, spending time outdoors, and catching live music. A fun fact about me is that I enjoy watching Taiwanese and Korean dramas—though I’m pretty selective. I tend to gravitate toward stories with strong, empowered female leads. I earned my Master of Social Work with an emphasis on Substance Use and Mental Health from The Ohio State University’s online program and completed my internship at San Diego Center for Children – Foster Family Agency Stabilization and Treatment (FFAST). I’m an avid adventurer and enjoy off-grid overland exploring and offshore sailing on a cutter-rigged vessel. Hi, I am Alexa Hall and I am grateful to serve in my role as a Mental Health Therapist at SIHC. Being part of this agency and supporting people in their mental health journeys is truly rewarding. My focus is to provide compassionate, culturally respectful care that meets people where they are. I was born and raised in San Diego, earned my undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley, and completed my Master’s in Social Work at San Diego State University. Outside of work, I love spending time in nature with my family—hiking and camping are some of our favorite ways to recharge. In my previous roles as an Associate Mental Health Therapist and Crisis Mental Health Therapist at SIHC, I had the privilege of supporting individuals through some of their most vulnerable moments. It’s deeply meaningful to offer a safe, understanding space when people need it most, and I’m honored to continue this work with SIHC. Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to work with various groups—from Veterans and their families to those facing housing and addiction challenges, and even first responders. Each experience, whether conducting mental health assessments, crisis intervention and stabilization, treatment planning, or providing therapy, has helped me develop the skills needed to support clients effectively and genuinely. I am dedicated to enhancing the well-being of the American Indian community that SIHC serves. I love fashion as it relates to me and finding inexpensive items that fit is my favorite! My favorite thing about fashion is the expression. I also love reading and writing. A fun fact about me is I have been to have been to over 9 countries in my life and plan to visit more because I love experiencing other people and their culture. I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in life span development from California Baptist University and a Master's of Science Degree in Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy from National University. I completed the majority of my student training in a psychiatric hospital. I worked inpatient and outpatient. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Hello! My name is Shelly Aledo, and I am a Mental Health Therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Southern Indian Health Council. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, in nature and enjoy adventuring wherever the wind blows; recently I have been reconnecting with old hobbies like crochet, art, crafting and gaming. I graduated from Cal State San Marcos, and I hold experience working within community mental health serving adults, veterans, and people court mandated to treatment with a variety of needs, including trauma, addiction and severe & persistent mental illness; I’m also a certified Mindfulness in Recovery facilitator. Hi, I’m Julie Woochuk, and I am the Program Manager and a Chemical Dependency Counselor at Southern Indian Health Council’s Behavioral Health Department at the Kumeyaay Wellness Center. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, biking, cooking, exploring the beach, and spending time with my family. I also love music, art, reading, and finding ways to stay active and balanced. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1995 and went on to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-II), an internationally certified addictions counselor (ICADC), and a Medication-Assisted Treatment Specialist (MATS) through CCAPP. I am also a certified SMART Recovery facilitator, a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Instructor, and a Certified Expressive Arts Consultant/Educator (CEACE). One thing I love about working at SIHC is the opportunity to co-facilitate culturally relevant recovery programs while supporting a harm-reduction approach and patient-centered care. Hi, my name is Tricia Neill, and I am one of the Chemical Dependency Counselors at Southern Indian Health Council. My office is located at the Kumeyaay Wellness Center in Boulevard, CA, where we provide outpatient substance use treatment services. When I’m not at work, I enjoy live music, dancing, and hiking. A fun fact about me is that I am 33 years abstinent from methamphetamines—a milestone I am incredibly proud of. I completed my education at Sober College School of Addiction Studies and gained hands-on experience during my internship here at SIHC, where I also completed my work experience hours. I am a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor I (CADC-I) and hold a Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist (MATS) certificate. One thing I really enjoy about working at SHIC is the people—both my coworkers and the clients we serve. I appreciate the collaborative and supportive dynamic among my team, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to make a positive impact on the lives of our clients.

Christina Busch, LCSW, CCTP
ROAM Program Manager

Hey there, I’m Christina Busch, and I am the ROAM Program Manager at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, painting, and visiting new places. A fun fact about me is I love to do home remodeling projects. I earned my MSW from Boston University and completed my training at an Outpatient Clinic. I am currently trained in EMDR and other trauma-based modalities. I enjoy learning how we can decolonize therapeutic practices for increased client care. One thing I love about working at SIHC is the community, my team members, and being able to participate in cultural activities.

Dusty Kessler, AMFT, CADC-III, CCTSI
ROAM Mental Health Therapist

Hi everyone, my name is Dustin Hayes Kessler, and I also go by Dusty (Whitewater). I am the ROAM Mental Health Therapist at Southern Indian Health Council seeing children, adults, couples and families. Aside from therapy, I am happiest when I'm dancing around the house to music with my wife and two kids, playing hackie sac or Frisbee, doing art or going on a road trip. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy Specialization from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and am currently an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). I am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-III) as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS-I). It is a pleasure to work for SIHC as we have a community and family feel, an interconnectedness that allows me to be my most authentic self at work. Which means in therapy, you will get to see the real me, and I hope we can create a bond that will allow you to work through whatever it is that brings you here, and feel that you can be your most genuine self too!

Tami Mason, LMFT
Youth Behavioral Health Program Manager

Hello, I am Tami Mason, the Youth Behavioral Health Program Manager. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and my favorite hobbies currently are napping, shopping, and eating delicious food. A fun fact about me is that I put into practice all my clinical skills every football season as I watch my favorite team, The Chargers, they really test the limits of my ability to regulate my emotions. I earned my MA degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Alliant Professional School for Psychology and completed my practicum and internship at San Diego Youth Services, Adoption Support. I am a certified EMDR therapist, and have extensive training in attachment trauma, play and expressive art therapy. There have been so many things I love about working at SIHC, from the support I get from my colleagues, being a part of a team that values wellness, but most of all, being able to do what I love and serve the community in which I am raising my family.

Carlenne Lacosta, ASW, BCBA
Youth Mental Health Therapist

Hi, I’m Carlenne Lacosta and I’m a Youth Mental Health Therapist at Southern Indian Health Council. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California and am currently an Associate Social Worker. I am also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst having worked in the field of Applied Behavior Analyst for approximately ten years prior to joining SIHC. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and being outdoors. A fun fact about me is that I also have a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts. One thing I love about working at SIHC is being able to hold space for our community’s youth. It’s an honor to provide care to our community and to be part of a team that values compassion, tradition, and excellence.

Hello, I’m Brianna Farnam and I’m the Youth Mental Health Specialist at Southern Indian Health Council. Outside of work I enjoy reading, playing video games, watching horror movies, visiting bookstores, and hanging out with my dogs. I earned my degree from National University and completed my training here are SIHC. I am a Foundational Theraplay Practitioner, am EMDR trained, and am Filial trained. I am currently working toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist. It’s an honor to provide care to our community and be part of a team that values compassion, tradition, and excellence.
